WINDOW ART

" A house is who you are, not who you ought to be."- Jill Robinson

HOME PERSONALITY Whether we like it or not the personalities of our homes are accurate barometer that reflect, through our surroundings - where we have been, whats's going on in our lives, and who we are. While having lots of money certainly helps us express ourselves through our surroundings, creating a warm, imaginative and artistic home that reflects our own personality doesn't have to begin by hiring a decorator or pulling out our credit cards or checkbook. Today, no matter where you live, look upon your home with creative eyes and inventive minds. Decorating with a simple but well done painting will do the trick. Walk through your window and offer thanks for the lovely view, garden, roof that safely enclose you and yours. Be grateful for the home you have even if you don't own an original paintings by Vincent Van Gogh or Georgia O'Keeffe.

"VIEW FROM A BATHROOM WINDOW" This oil painting is 16" x 20" and painted on canvas. This is one of my early realistic oil paintings which I painted in the 90's. The colors are muted, a diversion from my vibrant colors. As always, I love to decorate our small cottage home with my own paintings. This painting is about a bathroom window looking out into a lovely view of the garden with cascading water fountain. It's lovely to look at and the one who has this kind of view is lucky indeed. Many years ago, I gave this painting to a lovely bride. I am her god-mother. This painting was my wedding gift for her and the groom. I am sure it had added personality to their first home together.

Lloyd-It's also cold here. Last week it was simmering at 100 degree plus. Yesterday it was raining. Today windy and cold. But I don't go nuts with all these extreme weather. While I couldn't paint w/ out the sun, I am busy working on future sketches.

I wish I have a beautiful window and view from our bathroom. I only have a porthole. I should find a nice print similar to your painting that would inspire me.

AA-thanks for sharing your wish. I regret that I didn't make a print of my original painting. I only have one photo of that painting which I posted. I could sent you a copy sometime.

Lloyd-we all have dry period of creativity. Since I have a deadline to meet, I paint even when I don't feel like painting. Before I know, I have painted a few.

Lloyd- I have never done acrylics before. I always paint in oil and I am not familiar on how acrylics behave. Our masterpiece comes at a time when we do not expect it. The bursts of creativity is the miracle of art.

The colors are the emotions expressed in my dreams the subjects paint themselves. Not always are the dreams clear and nice, but reality is also that way. so I do not dwell too long in each.

lloyd- thanks for your explanations and comments. I look again at your blog and your red painting is uplifting. It reflects you're feeling better.

I fully believe this way too. I love ALL THE FUN FAMILY AND HAPPINESS IN YOUR PHOTOS. I am attracted to the south west and native American side of art. But I too have a old lithograph of Goya’s Ghosts. It is a treasure that always has a place in my home. I love sky views and at this time I am photo happy. I use this to fulfill my need to remember beauty. Like another post of yours. You are right most people go through life and never see it. When you open your eyes you are in awe of the color around us. I love all the color and detail you put in your art. I look forward to getting to know you better too.
